Where have I been?

So apparently I am the only person on planet earth who hasn't heard of using freezer paper to make your own stencils. Well, I have now joined the club and am addicted! Yesterday, when I googled "make your own stencil" freezer paper popped up over and over, so I jumped in the car, drove to three stores to find it and bought myself the biggest roll they had. Let me tell you, this stuff is awesome! I stenciled an 'F' (for our last name) on one of the pillows I covered.

After that, I hadn't had my fill of this new invention yet so I whipped myself up some cloth napkins for dinner with my dad and his significant other and stenciled those babies too! I did it about 3 hours before they arrived for dinner and they were perfectly dry.

Don't worry family everyone I know, you will be getting something stenciled in the near future. I have a HUGE roll of paper left!! :)

Do you want to know how to do it??
1. Buy freezer paper -try the grocery store (unless you want to explore your city a little more like I did).
2. Cut it to the size of a regular sheet of printer paper
3. Print your image that you want as a stencil on the papery (not a word) side of the paper, not the shiny side.
4. Cut out your image with an exacto knife.
5. Iron the stencil shiny side down onto your fabric.
6. Paint.
7. Peel off and Ta-Da! professional stenciling.

Other news:

* I finally hung up my vases that I bought a few weeks ago from CB2 and LOVE THEM!! Fresh flowers add a nice touch to the bathroom.

*I added some fabric flowers to the other pillow that I covered. (pictured above with the letter 'F' pillow)

* I enjoyed my morning sitting in cold metal chairs in an over crowded room for an hour and a half at the social security office, but now, there is no going back, I am officially a Flaherty. My social security card will say so in two weeks. That is now checked off my list!

* Tomorrow is State Fair Day! Bring on the unhealthy deep fried food!

* My dogs are cute.
