I have asked that question to my husband not once but twice today. You see, he likes to make mulled wine and simmer water, apple cider, and mulling spices on the stove during the fall to make the house smell good. Which is all good and wonderful if you remember that it is on the stove! Earlier we were down in the basement attempting to cover his Jeep seats (more on that disaster later) when I smelt something burning. After I ask if he smells it too he says a not so nice word and tells me to check the stove, where I find our main level full of smoke and burnt to a crisp mulling spices "simmering" in the pot. insert my not-so-happy-really-irritatied face.
Fast forward 5 hours...He's in the garage doing who knows what with his Jeep and I am upstairs where once again I mumble to myself "Is something burning? You have got to be kidding me!" I run downstairs to an identical site that happened just 5 hours earlier. It was really pretty, want to see?
You would think, he'd figure it out. After I went outside and had a few choice words about leaving burning stuff on the stove he says "don't worry, we'll just tell everyone you were trying to cook dinner". seriously. Which could be believable because that's about how well I cook.
If we ever lose our house, feel confident in the fact that it burnt down. We've had a few run ins with fire in our day, a candle fire, a burning burger, and a melted shoe to my foot. I don't really want to add exploding mulling spices to the list just yet.
On a happier note...Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte is back! It was a fantastic Friday for me!
a man that burns mulled spices...hmmm...don't know what to say to that one! :)))
