Christmas Happy Face :)

For some reason I feel like the Christmas "Cheer" is not here this year. Where did it go? I feel like it's not real yet, like Christmas can't be coming in 3 days because no one is SUPER EXCITED! Maybe it's the lack of snow that has everyone still waiting for it to feel like Christmas. I get it. I feel that too. Bring on the snow! I'm about ready to buy 600 bags of cotton balls and dump them around my yard just to make it white and throw salt on the sidewalks and pretend it's sleet. I don't remember that last Christmas with no snow, and this year I mean NO SNOW. Maybe if you look hard enough you might find a little pile huddled next to a building where the sun never reaches but that's about it.

This is what I'm waiting for...a snow covered woods at the cabin.

My classroom para's and I were talking today about all the "bah hum bugging" we've been hearing around the school and how it shouldn't be that way, especially not on the last day before winter break. We can tell with our students when the mood is bad. Children feed off of adult energy. I see it every day. Usually the last day before break is full of excitement and hyper kids. Today we had a crying fest in the gym for the last 15 minutes of the day, a student sleep the whole day, and one, stand up on a chair, shake his head back and fourth and scream as loud as he could, and I just looked at him and thought, "sometimes I feel like doing that too". Just saying "ENOUGH!, take your crabby pants off and be happy." Don't get me wrong, I can be crabby with the best of them, but this is my favorite time of year and it's hard to make me crabby. No matter how many lines I stand in, how many cookies I burn before I finally figure out to actually watch them, how many presents I still have to buy on Dec. 23rd, or how many times I have to put ornaments back on the tree because because Charlie thinks their balls, at the end of the day...I still love the holiday season and everything that comes with it. So I put on my Christmas happy face, throw on my red scarf, buy the person behind me in Starbucks their coffee and try and spread some cheer, because that's what this time of year is all about. Being friendly, nice to people, generous in any way you can (even if it's just a smile), and thankful.  So go put on your Christmas Happy Face and spread it around! :)

Here...I'll even help you. You can't help but smile at this little boy! :) (just might have to dig this outfit out again and give it a go on Charlie)

Santa's little helper!
