Valentine's Day

The Valentine's Day Party was a SUCCESS! It was an awesome night with amazing friends. It was great to get everyone together and this was the first get together that Jim and I have held at our house for our friends. Jim did a great job on the food and drinks and I made adorable little Valentine's Day boxes for the guest with lots of sweets.

Everything I made was super easy and my cake pops actually turned out this time! I think I've finally figured out the trick to get them to stay on the stick while dipping them.
You need to dip the stick in the candy melts (I used Wilton's and they worked awesome) and then put them in the cake pop and let them harden and then you can dip them and they shouldn't fall off. I only had 1 fall off out of the 60 I made. Yes, 60!!! One batch of cake makes at least that. I hope my kids at school like cake pops because I have a LOT left over.

I also made popcorn balls...don't know why I've never made these things before....SO EASY!!!! And they didn't stick to my hands. I used a recipe that I found on Pinterest. You can find it here. They are Jello popcorn balls. You use popcorn, marshmallows, butter, and Jello mix. It's a great recipe because then you can make them any color you want (well any color that Jello offers). These are already on my list of things to make for Halloween this year, but in orange of course. :)

Then I wanted to make something with candy hearts, because it's not Valentine's day unless you have candy hearts. So I found this recipe for fudge on Pinterest (surprise, surprise) and it was ridiculously easy as well. I only do easy recipes people! I'm not a cook or a baker, and probably should not be allowed in a kitchen, but all of this stuff was so simple and used minimal ingredients. So for this all I needed was a can of sweetened condensed milk, semisweet chocolate chips, white chocolate chips, and candy hearts. Melt the dark chocolate and condensed milk together, spread, melt the white chocolate and condensed milk together, spread on top of the dark chocolate layer, put on candy hearts and let cool.

After I let the fudge cool I cut it up and put each square into a mini cupcake liner. Ta-Da! Done!!

Of course I made my old time favorite, pretzels with Rolos and M&M's. They're so easy and yummy! There is nothing better than mixing sweet and salty. Thanks to the M&M company for making Valentine's Day colored M&M's. :)

Then I put them all in boxes, printed some individualized stickers to put on the top of the box with some pretty ribbon, and I had my Valentine's Day favors done. :) I love how they turned out! I don't think I got a picture of them all wrapped up. Bummer.

  1. Might have all been easy things to make, but you did a great job! I bet everyone loved them, too.
