Then last week as part of my thank you gift for my paraprofessionals that worked in my classroom with me this year (who deserved a HUGE thank you) I gave them each a glass jar with some candy in it. I etched the jars with the words "Candy" and "Yum!".
It would have showed up better if I used smaller candy inside but these ladies like chocolate :) |
Wondering how to do this yourself??
You'll need:
Armour Etch or some other glass etching cream (I got mine at Michaels)
Paintbrush
Contact paper
Whatever piece of glass you want to etch
Stencil of your design (or you can freehand it)
Exacto knife
1. Copy your design onto contact paper and cut out using the exacto knife.
2. Press your contact paper onto your glass. Make sure to press firmly around the edges so there are no bubbles.
3. Paint on a thick layer or the etching cream and let sit for 8-10 minutes. (don't touch the cream it's a chemical)
4. Wash the cream off, pull off the contact paper and you're done!
Really? That's all there is to it? How easy is that! Love it.
ReplyDeleteWow I like the fact that I will receive chocolate this coming Valentines inside the etched glass like the picture above so unique! Keep on posting!
